I just got hold of Windows 7 and not really feeling like doing a triple boot(I already dual boot xp and vista) I set fourth to install Windows 7 in vmware. I started vmware and created a new VM, locating the iso file and it figured out it was a Vista DVD and offered me a easy install. The only thing I changed for the settings was the memory usage which I lowered to 512MB instead of 1GB, changed the hard drive space to 24GB and checking of directx9 mode. I will try to enable that once I´m in the os again. Keep reading to see some screenshots and some more info.
Once installed vmware says its installed size is 5.3 GB, I don´t know what a vista ultimate is but I figure its about the same size. The OS seems faster, more snappy, more responsive than vista, and that´s what microsoft has been trying to make with this version, its like vista but better. And this is when I´m running it on vmware with 512MB of ram dedicated to it. Looking promising indeed. One thing I found almost instantly was the “library” feature of windows 7. It looks like it some kind of special folders where you can collect different type of file collections in one folder, like if there is several different photo/images folders on your system, you could make a library of all those and have them collected in one easy folder.
I had known for some time that Rafael Riviera had released a tool to unlock some hidden features normally only available for microsoft employees called the “blue badge” tool. After installing it the new and improved taskbar will appear. Check below for screenshots.
